2021 Attendee Testimonial
“Attending the 2021 VASSA conference was tremendously helpful for our simulation program at Tyler becoming Brightpoint Community College. With each session I attended, I brought something back to the sim center. I have been able to moulage more realistically and I now have a better tool/supply kit for creating and removing moulage. A medication administration escape room is in the final stages of development for the second semester students to attend before starting clinical. Student volunteers and faculty have volunteered to pilot the simulation, so it can be facilitated next semester. The third semester faculty and I are in the process of creating a relay review as an alternative means of review before the final exam. This review will be a tag-team race to review information provided on static manikins so the students can determine priorities, nursing interventions, and SBAR for possible communication with the healthcare provider. A professional development program was created for the education of new faculty to facilitate simulation appropriately within Brightpoint Community Hospital. Short videos are being created for class and simulation like the discussed SimNovations. These videos will focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion in the healthcare field. We are still working on our own branding name for these videos! There are so many other changes in progress or coming to our sim center because of the conference. I have mentioned the VASSA conference so much that additional faculty may attend next year!
Thank you for all the helpful information. I look forward to future conferences!”
